text between / got italicized in a comment

In the comment by eugenenarciso at

one can read the following sentence:

The other api I might work on is 'api/v1/users/username′ that returns general information instead of /user_id.

In that sentence the words from "username" to "instead of" have been italicized and the spaces lost.

Is that an error by the display engine of askbot, or was there a better way to input the comment to avoid this?
