Migration plans for Auth

I am trying get an Askbot site going and I ran into a problem with auth through Google. They have deprecated OpenID and are no longer accepting new domains that are using it. This is a problem for me because for my application I need to make auth as painless as possible.

Are there any plans for migrating auth? If not, I am happy to work on it. My preference is to use django-allauth. I have had good luck with it on other projects. It up-to-date.

Might be worth adding the text: "OpenID auth request contains an unregistered domain" so that this question can be searched more easily. Perhaps change the title to include the words Google and OpenID for the same reason :)
