So, AskBot supports drill-down queries, tag and author search simultaneously... Great...how do I use those advanced features? What is the format? Is this all available from the search box?

Hi, you can enter some search query, then add tags by clicking on them and restrict search further.

Then you can change/delete search query, but the tag selection will stay. You can also delete tags (only all tags at once at this point) - there will be a link "reset tags".

Filtering by people is not really accessible yet - you have to go to the user profile, and click on one of users' tags, way down.

At any time you can change display sort order or "scope" (either all questions, "unanswered" or "favorite") without losing the query and tag selection.

Now once you have the query built, at one point you'll want to reset the query. You can do it by hitting "questions" tag or the logo.

There is a certain degree of stickiness of the search state. For example it persists across reads of individual questions, voting and other similar things. So that way if you visit an individual question after running search you can recover the search results by clicking "questions" once. If you click second time, the state will reset.

The UI behavior can certainly be improved, any suggestions are welcome of course.
