Hello, are you using a shared hosting provider?
Could you explain how do you set up media aliases in the environments where you do not have access to the main webserver configs - so that the webserver handles the static files directly?
How does this work in your particular example and which host do you use?
Thanks!
My little experience with hosting services:
On webfactional you have to set up a static app(oficial documentation)
Mediatemple virtual host give you full control on the apache configuration, but the trick to media files is to put a symlink on the httpdocs folder of the app.
