I wanted to test askbot with a text-only browser. Using links 2.2 (installed for Mac with MacPorts), the site seems reasonably easy to navigate, but the voting links seem to be unusable. For now, the biggest problem is that I can't seem to log in with OpenID (using my google account). I've tried a number of the login links, but none of them seem to work correctly (they just reload the page). I also tried elinks (0.11.7, also from MacPorts), but the askbot page won't load at all with elinks (socket error, it says).

Niles, I'll keep in mind to port javascript-only features to the server site script, log in will be the first one. About 1% of web users browse without JS and since the number is low, full support of no-js browsers is not a high priority.

I agree. It looks like elinks does support javascript, but it has to be compiled specially for that purpose, and I haven't been able to do it yet. niles ( 2011-01-01 08:17:59 -0500 )edit
