can askbot be hosted on google app engine - free package , or there are some technical limitations why askbot is not suitable for google

Hello, unfortunately - no.

App engine does not support full text search. Also it will take a lot of work to port the app to app engine (while the engine is free at the entry level, the coding is expensive :).
