Why is instant search so slow ?
I don't know how is it for everyone, but for me when i type in a query into a search box, it takes aroung 2-3 seconds to generate suggestions, which i think is rather slow. Most users won't wait that long. can speed be improved ?

You will probably need to update the code - @arknotts made a tweak to that part recently that could improve performance of the instant search.
The "search as you type" feature cannot be made truly instant, but ~0.4-0.8 response time should be possible.
It is possible that what happens is that your server is swamped with the search requests on each character update and it can't keep up.
