Congratulations on your funding! I imagine it must be difficult to get people to fund an open source project. I am curious what your vision for Askbot is. I guess it must involve going commercial in some way, as you are going full time on this.

Thanks! Sorry, have to go for the rest of the day. I'll explain it all next week, one thing for sure - the open source project will not be less active or limited (excluding the multihosting optimizations and automation of deployment) because of the commercial plans. The funding is from startupchile.org, thanks to the Chilean government!

I picked Askbot for many reasons (quick bug fixes, resusable django app etc) but it does have a smaller community. Only one developer essentially and not many deployments. The ability to export the data so that one could move over to Shapado or OSQA in the worst case scenario is certainly helpful in choosing Askbot since it averts the risk to a large extend.
