Is it possible to export data from Askbot in a format recognized by OSQA (I guess that would be the StackExchange format)?
This feature seems important to me because if I migrate to Askbot and something happens (I don't like it, the project dies, etc.) I don't want to be locked in.
Not at the moment, but why not indeed do it, sounds good. I was planning to write importer from OSQA :) very soon - export into SE would be a good solution, as with that you will also be able to go to some other forums that read SE dumps, like Shapado, written in Rails.
The project won't die unless something happens with me. We have a decent amount of funding for 6 months and I will be working full time on askbot for at least a year. So far I was writing askbot code mostly without compensation. However, there were several sponsors who paid for specific features - many thanks to them!
Now I am quitting my job and moving half the world away to work an askbot full time. I will write more detail in about a week when all of this is 100% official (a small formality is left to clear).
