While fiddling with downvote in my clone, I saw that if when i clicked the dislike(downvote) button I got a critic badge and though I clicked it again to cancel but the critic badge remained for the "First Downvote". That means even if someone by mistake clicks the downvote, he gets an "Critic badge"

I think there is no way to prevent this with the instant badge awards.

Agreed, and I'd go a step further and say that even with a delayed badge award, you still can't really prevent this (all you have to do is wait n+1 seconds to undo the downvote, where n is the number of seconds before the badge is awarded).

It's possible a user meant to upvote and accidentally clicked on the wrong button. But at least based on my own personal experience, it's more likely that the downvote was intentional at the time the user cast it.

I think that's still worth a bronze badge award, even if the user later (or even immediately) reverses her downvote. If it were a silver or gold badge, that would be one thing, but bronze badges are designed to reward basic site usage, for which this case certainly qualifies.

A third possibility exists that the user might just be curious to see what that particular button does (and somehow never noticed it until she gained enough karma to downvote). Even in this case, I would be in favor of rewarding curiosity and exploration.

You have only women users or what :)

In that case he's awarded for the curiosity :). Well the easy to get badges are not worth much anyway, so maybe it is not a big deal. The harder ones it is just unlikely that they will be awarded this way.
