How do I start building my own skins

I am trying to figure out how to build my own skins. I have default site running, where are the current skins getting loaded from. I looked at the skins directory but I didn't see any html or css files? I am very new to django like environments a details explanation would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to this for example: write after you ask a question you end up with following messages on your page" Know someone who can answer? Share a link to this question via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Identi.ca, or email." How can I get rid of these from current skin"?

There is some documentation about creating custom skins http://askbot.org/doc/customizing-skin-in-askbot.html take a look there.

We will actually remove that message in the next version.

I was reading the instructions, but its not very clear, based the directory structure shown, I thought default skins are in skins directory and was expecting a template directory in it but I don't see that?
