Should a minor edit bring a Q&A back to the top of the sort order?

I am a frequent user of the Askbot instance used by LibreOffice.

Whenever I edit an existing answer, Askbot brings that question back to the "top" of the listing. When a major edit is involved, that's entirely appropriate. Sometimes, however, it's simply a typo fix, or to update a URL, or something that could be considered "minor". In these instances, bringing the edited answer to the top of the listing strikes me as inappropriate.

My enhancement request: Could the "edit" field have a "minor edit" checkbox, just like on Wikipedia:

Wikipedia edit option

If the "minor edit" box is checked, Askbot would leave the Q&A in its present position in the sort order, so only significant changes would bring the Q&A back to the top of the listing.

Does that idea have some traction with others?

Thanks for the "karma" @Evgeny :) Glad the idea makes sense. Would make for more meaningful listing, I think.

It may be a good idea. Originally the "minor edit" function was thought to suppress email alerts, but it may be reasonable to prevent from bumping the post to the top as well.

Someone voiced a concern that such silent edits will enable spammers to quietly insert malicious content.

About "insert[ing] malicious content" -- yes, that's a genuine concern. I'm a mod on a particular forum, and "sleeper" posts/accounts are a problem, I know. Hard to balance, isn't it!

I personally don't like to bring any posts to the front-page, Unless its of value.

Even a new answer posted, may be wrong. So front-page should have voted up answers + trending content. Something like HN.
