can you get notification when something new is posted in a specific tag ?

We would like to monitor/track some tags so I'm wondering if there is any such option.

Yes - you can mark tag as interesting on the main page, or enable a separate set of subscribed tags.

Also - there are email subscriptions settings for each user account where you can specify how often to receive updates and in which cases?
