Trying to add link in answer adds link in comment

If you click in a comment, then realize you don't want to write a comment but rather an answer, nonetheless trying to use the keyboard shortcut (Mac is Command-L) to add a link adds it back in the comment. Indeed, the same is true for highlighting, and anything else that uses a keyboard shortcut! Why is the focus for that not on the answer?

To enter a block of code:

  • enter empty line after your previous text
  • paste or type the code

Is this an issue specific to the browser? I'm doing this: 1) open comment, 2) click on add answer 3) hit Ctrl+L. 4) type a link and hit OK. The result is a link in the answer, as expected.

I don't know, I haven't seen it in a while because the shortcut doesn't work for me. Perhaps browser-dependent, indeed.
