How do you enable Captcha on the Login page?

Not for want of trying I can't find any option to enable the Captcha on the login page. Is this something that requires custom page editing or is there a simple way?

There is no such option. However Captcha can be enabled on the account registration pages.

I think that protecting the login form makes a lot of sense. At least having this option would be good.
