On our Askbot site, I need to make a comment about a variable with underscores in the name. However, when I post the message, the underscores result in the word being italic. How do you "escape" or prevent characters from being interpreted?
It is interpreted as markdown command. You can escape it with \
Like this: \_a\_ --> _a_
I confirm that this issue:
(v0.7.50) happens in the body text, but does NOT in the code formatted snippet.
(v0.7.54, which seems to the one currently this forum http://askbot.org/en/question is running on) does NOT happen. See an example from other site that runs on 0.7.56 as of today.
Presumably upgrating the version is one way to resolve the issue.
Due to some security features the underscore my be blocked to secure the askbot.
