2015-04-25 11:48:20 -0600 | asked a question | Set robots.txt for askbot.org The current robots.txt allows everything, that doesn't seem safe. Especially as there are frequent error 502, it would probably be best to disallow some dynamic pages (search?) and set a crawl-delay of some seconds. |
2015-04-25 06:02:26 -0600 | asked a question | Can moderators see IP addresses? Are IP addresses stored by AskBot? Is more information kept for users who post or change something? Is there a data retention policy, e.g. to purge them after a certain time? Is there an option to store the IP addresses in hashed version, as cryptolog and Internet Archive do? If IP addresses are stored unencrypted, who can see them? The moderators? Is this permission restrictable to a smaller user group? Is there a log for the access to IP addresses, similar to MediaWiki's CheckUser extension? |
2015-04-25 05:57:12 -0600 | commented answer | [Fundraiser] Is it possible to migrate from OSQA to AskBot? Thanks for sharing, why don't you send a pull request to the askbot repository? |
2015-04-25 05:56:40 -0600 | commented question | Stop gravatar I agree disabling gravatar is needed sometimes. |

2015-04-25 05:53:55 -0600 | commented answer | [Fundraiser] Is it possible to migrate from OSQA to AskBot? There might be more traction for this now that OSQA has looked dead for some years. |
2015-04-25 05:53:06 -0600 | commented question | Import from OSQA Turns out this is a duplicate of askbot.org/en/question/3184/fundraiser-is-it-possible-to-migrate-from-osqa-to-askbot/ but I can't add "import" there nor close this question as duplicate. |
2015-04-25 05:49:30 -0600 | commented question | How to find askbot experts I note there is a askbot.com/hire-us/ section on the AskBot site... |
2015-04-25 05:47:50 -0600 | commented question | is it possible to remove the powered by askbot link ? On self-hosted instances, however, this would not be nice. You should credit the developers! |
2015-04-25 05:45:50 -0600 | asked a question | Custom reputation e.g. karma, badges On my AskBot site, can I (without local patches to the code) customise the badges automatically awarded to users, the karma awarded or required for various events and actions, etc.? |
2015-04-25 05:44:19 -0600 | commented question | Better multilingual organization? I agree this would be wonderful. In particular if an individual question/answer could exist in multiple languages: a question could be asked in any language, translated and answered in English and then translated back to the asker's language. For language selection, jquery.uls could be used. |
2015-04-25 05:41:16 -0600 | commented question | User defined/selected badges This seems more like a custom profile field. Badges are usually the reputation things awarded automatically by the system upon some condition. |
2015-04-25 05:38:36 -0600 | answered a question | Captcha too strong for users AskBot should probably support a question-based captcha, for instance on this website "What's the colour of the top bar?". Usually spambots don't bother resolving manually the captcha questions which require context and/or are only useful for a small site. In our experience with thousands MediaWiki wikis, QuestyCaptcha is the most robust solution. ReCAPTCHA was broken years ago by spammers and NoCAPTCHA still ends up annoying users with questions which are easier for a bot than for a human. |
2015-04-25 05:32:19 -0600 | commented question | Is there up-to-date how to install askbot as reusable app tutorial? Did you follow the instructions on pypi? |
2015-04-25 05:27:16 -0600 | asked a question | Import from OSQA It seems that some people are on the way out from OSQA or consider it dead (meta.osqa.net/questions/16755/is-osqa-dead). Atlassian seems ready to eat all OSQA sites with its product which allows importing OSQA dumps... does AskBot offer this feature too? |
2015-04-25 05:21:34 -0600 | commented answer | Relationship with OSQA Funny to read this 5 years later. Nowadays AskBot seems to have way more features than OSQA. :) |
2015-04-25 05:18:48 -0600 | asked a question | Import from Atlassian Questions Did someone manage to import an Atlassian Questions dump into AskBot? It seems Atlassian, since it stopped using OSQA, is pushing its own Questions application. It would be a pity if people find themselves locked into it. |
2015-04-25 05:15:06 -0600 | commented question | Can you make private questions? See also http://askbot.org/en/question/10299/can-askbot-be-a-private-membership-site/%3C/p (http://askbot.org/en/question/10299/can-askbot-be-a-private-membership-site/</p<>>) |
2015-04-25 05:14:44 -0600 | commented question | CSRF verification failed. Request aborted. 403 Error only on Firefox I got this too on http://askbot.org, but I didn't try with NoScript disabled. |
2015-04-25 05:11:29 -0600 | asked a question | Web API for answers export? Does the web API support full export of a question's answers and history thereof? I only see a web API to get current data about the question. Ideally, the format would be the same that manage.py can then import into a new instance, similar to what MediaWiki import/export does. |

2015-04-25 05:01:51 -0600 | asked a question | Frequent error 502 Bad Gateway I'm often getting error 502 Bad Gateway on this site, performance problems? Usually the URL is loaded upon retry. |
