2015-10-05 10:58:36 -0500 | marked best answer | Login problem. Open id issue when I changed the domain name of the site while using the same database Hello. I am having a problem that probably is expected to happen. I recently changed the name of the domain site but at the same time I kept the same database since I dont want to loose the current users with their questions etc. Problem now is that when I try to login with my gmail account, askbot somehow doesnt recognize me. So, I am redirected to google server where I fill again my credentials and then askbot complains about duplicate user. So, it is something like a dead end! I was looking to my database and I found a table with name django_authopenid_userassociation. If I reset anything there is going to help or I will destroy the application? Do you have any other solutions? |

Any advice? Something more that I have noticed and may help is that this is not happening in all pages. For example, the same tag seems to work in /tags page. But it is not working in home page. |
2015-10-05 10:58:35 -0500 | marked best answer | change css directly to server without need to install again? Hello to all. I am a newbie in python/django and I guess probably this is the reason I am facing this problem. I successfully installed askbot 0.7.39 locally and now I want to start editing askbot\skins\default\media\style\style.css and run some experiments. What I would like to do is to directly edit this css inside my project (btw, when I installed askbot another style.css was created inside build folder) and refresh the page and see my changes applied. But nothing changes :( The only workaround I found until now is to delete build folder, re-install and then see my changes. But this is very time consuming. Do you have any suggestions? As I said before, I am a newbie, so probably I am missing something very fundamental here. Thanx for any help |

2014-01-30 11:14:22 -0500 | marked best answer | optional module - upload avatar configuration problem I am following the steps described in askbot documentation regarding upload avatars.
Additional info: a) The first time I tried to run manage.py syncdb I got exceptions that my environment is not configured with PIL. So I run pip install PIL and the specific problem disappeared b)There is a very similar question in askbot where @Evgeny asks (last comment) if a virtual env is used. In my case, I am using virtual environment, but I run all the above commands pointing to the right path of my virtual environment, so I am sure that I install everything in the right location. c) I also run setup.py install, manage.py migrate, manage.py collectstatic (just in case is needed) And now the problem (finally). When I try to start the server, in logs of the server I am getting this exception: ImproperlyConfigured: Error importing middleware askbot.middleware.anon_user: "No module named avatar" Any ideas? I also found these instructions in python site. Step 2 is similar but not the same with askbot urls.py. Is this important? |

2012-07-06 03:23:21 -0500 | answered a question | facebook/twitter share fails with unicode url Hello. I had a similar problem some time ago. Please have a look here. Probably, is not the best solution, but worked for me. Have a look on the second part of the answer where I am writing something about escaping characters. I removed escaping, because when I tried to post greek questions (non latin characters) the url created was not valid (contained a lot of % because of escaping) and twitter sharing didnt work. Now it works.
Hope it helps |
