2012-01-10 21:43:25 -0500 | commented answer | What's the practical use of Views counter? Yes, it is not meaningful alone so it could be offered as a way to sort once a primary sort method as been used. Or else I don't feel the need to have it occupying space with every question. |
2012-01-10 11:01:30 -0500 | asked a question | What's the practical use of Views counter? I see a number of views counter with all asked questions. What is the use of this? It would be better to see a way to sort the questions by the number of views as well. |
2012-01-10 10:58:42 -0500 | asked a question | suggested / similar questions not upto the mark Yesterday I had asked the question "Facebook Login Broken?". Today I went to the Question submission form and typed in Facebook.. and immedieately a list of suggested / similar questions popped up. My yesterday's question being the last. So I continued typing Facebook Login Broken and found that yesterday's questions completely went off the radar. Why is that? Isn't it important to show that to the user as it is the "same" as what he's actually asking now? |

2012-01-10 10:50:10 -0500 | asked a question | A small hack to the search box? It did not become apparent to me after many visits to the site that once I type in something into the search box and the results aren't what I want, I can press the "Ask Your Question" button next to the box to convert my search query to a question. I feel the "Ask Your Question" button and the search box feel disconnected. How about a small hack that will prompt the user as a drop down from the search box to "Ask this as your Question" or probably grouping together the searchbox, X, search icon and "Ask Your Question" button? |

2012-01-10 04:09:07 -0500 | answered a question | Will Askbot make it possible to share Q&As on a Facebook profile? Yes it makes logical sense to prompt the user to auto-share on Facebook as they would naturally want to and while increasing the virality of the site. |

2012-01-10 01:47:21 -0500 | answered a question | RFE: Can we please automatically subscribe askers to their questions for email notifications? Yes, I think this is the best approach at least for questions which you can think of as Facebook status updates where you are strictly subscribed to your own updates and are opted-in (with an unfollow post) on posts you comment on. |

2012-01-10 01:36:30 -0500 | commented question | Would it be useful to limit tags? My target audience is going to be senior citizens and I don't want them to be overwhelmed with tags and want to use the tags to structure the content like a forum into defined topics (12 or more). So they can easily follow the topics (tags) they want. And when new content is submitted, the idea is to provide the predefined set of tags and ask them to choose one and file the question / discussion under that topic (tag). |

2012-01-09 13:43:10 -0500 | asked a question | Would it be useful to limit tags? I am wondering if it will be useful to let the admin decide all the tags that can be used. For the specific deployment I am thinking of, I would need to have Categories / Topics for which I am planning to use tags and by containing them to a dozen. Searching can always be accomplished by the search box without need for tags based querying. What do you think? |
2012-01-09 13:34:20 -0500 | commented answer | Askbot feature list Thank you. Today I stumbled on Askbot searching for open source Q&A platforms that I could host. The home page did not make it convincing enough as I would have liked a comprehensive feature list and a prominent link to http://askbot.org/en/questions/ But once I came here I instantly fell in love with Askbot just for its awesome design. And have been hanging around here trying to figure out all the features myself. So I still believe an features page like OSQA will be helpful. |
2012-01-09 13:27:10 -0500 | answered a question | Feedback on new skin This skin looks awesome. The sidebar is logically designed. And I like the way you have grouped the voting up/ down and created a toolbar which can be added on to with other features. I would like to see some differentiation between the question and answers. May be the answers section can have smaller avatars and shifted to the right by a tab space? Or the question could be made more prominent by increasing the shadow effect. Also as @Evgeny thinks, I feel the very prominent comment button may be a distraction when the idea is to get people to post answers as answers not a comment on the question. |

2012-01-09 11:51:06 -0500 | answered a question | Askbot feature list So I see this stands updated at Nov'10. It would be nice to see another update now with the current list of great features. Thank you. |
2012-01-09 11:48:24 -0500 | asked a question | Facebook Login Broken? Is the Facebook login still broken? I want to deploy Askbot for my project and would definitely need that feature. But on this Askbot "official" deployment I find it gives the following error:
Why is that? As I searched this forum, I found answers that it is working and just API key needs to be plugin. So should I go ahead with the deployment? I don't want to waste time doing it just to find out FB login doesn't work. |
