Captcha too strong for users

I have enabled captcha on my site and since then I do not have any spammers, thats great!

But now I get daily emails from my users. Many of them claim, that they can't solve the captcha. I see much less registrations of normal users.

I would suggest to implement something less complicated. Recaptcha is outdated and a barrier for many people especially the older ones.

Something like http://sweetcaptcha.com/ or similar would be great

AskBot should probably support a question-based captcha, for instance on this website "What's the colour of the top bar?". Usually spambots don't bother resolving manually the captcha questions which require context and/or are only useful for a small site. In our experience with thousands MediaWiki wikis, QuestyCaptcha is the most robust solution.

ReCAPTCHA was broken years ago by spammers and NoCAPTCHA still ends up annoying users with questions which are easier for a bot than for a human.

Any news on this topic? Nocaptcha recaptcha is something I really want in askbot.

Google just updated reCaptcha

see this Video

or this intro

Would be nice to see it on askbot. It would reduce SPAM and boost real user registrations!

[Info for Mods: Askbot.org is extremly slow, server problem probably..]
