how do you gays think that "ask question" and "answer question" can gain a reputation?

I want to enhance a feature in my askbot website.Anyone who asks a question or answer a question can gain one karma.

Does the idea make sence?

This way posting spam will give you reputation and eventually spammer can take over the site. May not be a good idea.
