In the default Askbot Installation_Design there is a 302 redirect to /questions from the site Root URL.
Was this deliberate for any good reason? I'm just too curious to know.
And another follow up question
Are redirects good for SEO?
I don't think there is a good reason for this, it's a legacy from the stackoverflow cloning effort in the parent CNPROG project.
Tried, but could not find information on redirects being bad for SEO. Is there anything definitive on this topic?
We might in the future use the main page for some other purpose - say listing of available forum spaces - fancy user groups that also segment content, but for the case where groups/spaces are disabled we could remove the "/questions/" prefix.

todofixthis ( 2012-09-18 09:21:11 -0500 )edit@todofixthis I saw the above posts. I'm curious to know what was the reason for this redirection? Any particular good reason? :) @Evgeny
pajju ( 2012-09-18 09:42:05 -0500 )editActually it's triplicate:).
Evgeny ( 2012-09-22 17:46:37 -0500 )editThere are lots of duplicates and triplicate versions for many questions in askbot. :) And each version tells a different story as it comes from different needs and from different users. But many are not related at all.
Well my question here was not how to disable redirects or any other related questions. I was only curious to know "the reason for the redirects in the askbot design". :)
