How do you enable SSL for askbot hosted?

I' ve tried all the settings and I've even tried typing "https://" in the address bar manually and it doesn't work.

We're currently trialing askbot and according to the plans page, we are at the medium plan which provides SSL support.

Hello @kbairak, please encrypt the archive with the SSL certificate files with GPG & public key below and email as attachment to support@askbot.com and note which site you would like to host via SSL.

Copy the gpg key (at the end of this answer) into file gpg.askbot.txt.

Then type commands:

gpg --import gpg.askbot.txt gpg --encrypt -r support@askbot.com certfiles.zip #then email file certfiles.zip.gpg

Below is the GPG public key:

Thanks for the answer! My current account is a demo one so I won't be actually using SSL on it. But we will set up a forum for our company shortly. A question I have is: will this work with privately issued certificates or will they have to be purchased from a CA?

The self-issued certificates technically work, but the browsers will show a warning message telling that the site is potentially unsafe as the authenticity of the certificate cannot be verified.
