I' ve tried all the settings and I've even tried typing "https://" in the address bar manually and it doesn't work.

We're currently trialing askbot and according to the plans page, we are at the medium plan which provides SSL support.

If you would like that - just request via support@askbot.com and I'll install an ssl cert from letsencrypt.

Thanks for the answer! My current account is a demo one so I won't be actually using SSL on it. But we will set up a forum for our company shortly. A question I have is: will this work with privately issued certificates or will they have to be purchased from a CA?

The self-issued certificates technically work, but the browsers will show a warning message telling that the site is potentially unsafe as the authenticity of the certificate cannot be verified.

Hello, @Evgeny! Could you please provide new gpg key? The one that has been provided earlier has expired in 2016. Or describe a new process please if it has changed. Thanks in advance!

@timmyf - currently you can request hosting under ssl and that will be enough - b.c. there is a way to make free ssl certificates.
