I am exploring ways to customize the structure of Askbot questions and moderation permissions.

Any insight on the best way to approach the following requirements?

  1. Questions require assignment to single top level predefined Categories.
  2. Special moderators are assigned to specific categories.

Not sure what the most straightforward path is here. Multiple AskBot instances (vs categories) with a single user system, or is there a way to customize a single Askbot instance to perform with these requirements?

Would love the ability to assign Questions to special Categories. I've heard this mentioned as "special tags" in this forum. Then the ability to assign user moderation privileges to a specific category. Basically this provides the system with topic experts who are allowed to moderate only those categories they are deemed an expert in.
