Rationale behind rep cap on questions and answers?
 
   
  
 
 
In the section explaining upvoting, downvoting and reputation, there is the following quote:
 
 
There is a limit of 200 points that can be accumulated per question or answer.
 
 
If I understand it correctly, this is not the daily reputation cap, but means a cap on every individual question or answer. Is that correct? What is the rationale behind this? Was this inherited from OSQA?

  • select the code and press the  button above

Pekka, there is a mistake - must be "... per question or answer per day" or something like that.

 @Evgeny okay, good to know. So there is a question-specific rep cap in place but not a global one? Just so I understand it correctly.

 @Pekka, I was wrong again - it is indeed maximum rep per user per day - for everything, not per question.
