Why can't tranlsate "Ask Your Question" string?

I've done makemessages but it's not processing the template at skins/default/templates/widgets/ask_button.html

Why is this variable not exported to the .po file?

makemessages doesn't process the templates very well

I used jinja2_makemessages as described here:

It fix it but had to remove the "#, fuzzy" from the django.po file
