Can administrators view user email addresses?

I am considering using AskBot to host Q&A for a large academic course. As the professor, sometimes situations will arise in which I will need to determine who really posted a question. Since users can choose their own screen name (and might prefer to be pseudo-anonymous with it), I can't rely on the screen name to identify the student. But it seems that even the site administrator is unable to view the email address associated with a user profile. Am I missing something?
