Return in comments

At this ask.sagemath post, there is the following.

I have "marked this answer as favourite", but what I actually wanted was to "accept" it - a tooltip bug? Incidentally, pressing 'enter' submits the comment, while adding a new line seems more convenient.

I have wondered about this too. Maybe it could be an option?

(Also, the poster wonders whether it wouldn't be easier to have a 'suggest feature' or 'bug report' button to click on askbot things, as well as Sage.)

There is an option to "disable comment save on enter". However - line breaks in comments are not allowed yet. I'll try to fix this soon. Your site needs to be upgraded too, will do it asap.

Are line breaks allowed in comments now?

I think this will have a limited support of markdown. - new paragraph if you enter a blank line between the two, allow bold and italics. It would be better if the text input format is the same in the comments and the main text.

I can see that. Just allowing line breaks would be useful. The enter key for saving a comment is unintuitive IMO

The enter key to save can be disabled by configuration, actually. But regarding the line breaks - in markdown they are interpreted as end of paragraph only when you have an empty line between the two. A simple line break is not enough.

In Stack Overflow, when you click on a box, a help bar on the side appears that offers hint on what is expected. That type of thing would help a lot here
